Vietnam Tourism 2024: Strategy for green ​and sustainable tourism development

The Prime Minister assigned the tourism industry to ​welcome and serve 18 million international visitors and ​110 million domestic visitors, with total revenue from ​tourism estimated to reach 850,000 billion VND by 2024.

At the Conference to summarize the work in 2023 and deploy ​key tasks in 2024 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports ​and Tourism (MCST) on January 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh ​Chinh emphasized that in 2024, the An important task is to ​strongly innovate the methods and content of tourism ​promotion and advertising. At the same time, develop a smart ​tourism ecosystem associated with digital transformation to ​enhance service infrastructure connection, support, increase ​tourist experience, and increase the application of clean, green ​technology in tourism. .

The head of the Government also emphasized tourism ​development in the direction of "Outstanding products - ​Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - ​Competitive prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe ​destinations, civilized and friendly". MCST is assigned the task ​of proactively coordinating with relevant ministries, branches, ​and localities to propose specific mechanisms, policies, and ​solutions to support and remove difficulties such as taxes, land, ​autonomy, and mechanisms. cooperate. Strengthen ​connectivity with the motto "One route, many destinations", ​building national heritage routes and international heritage ​routes.

To achieve the goals set by the Prime Minister, Minister of ​Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that ​by 2024, the industry will synchronously deploy a set of ​important solutions. Accordingly, MCST will submit to the ​Prime Minister for promulgation the Planning of Vietnam's ​tourism development system for the period 2021-2030, ​with a vision to 2045 as well as the Prime Minister's ​Directive on comprehensive tourism development, fast ​and sustainable. The Ministry will also direct the ​implementation of measures to ensure safety for tourists; ​Strengthen management and control of tourism service ​quality; proactively develop plans and prepare conditions ​to serve tourists, especially during the Lunar New Year.


Another important content is that MCST will develop ​evaluation criteria and deploy a green growth ranking ​system for tourist destinations and tourism businesses in ​Vietnam. At the same time, develop a plan to establish ​tourism promotion offices in some key markets and ​deploy themed tourism marketing campaigns.

Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, ​emphasized that Vietnam needs to shift towards green tourism ​for sustainable development, with the core being ​environmental protection and converting tourism services to ​tourism services.
